rebuilding our mind, body & worldview after betrayal
Post Betrayal Transformation® refers to the process of healing & rebuilding after experiencing betrayal. Betrayal can take many forms, such as infidelity, deceit, or a breach of trust in the workplace, with family & with friends. It can leave the betrayed feeling deeply hurt, angry, lost & confused.
Betrayal recovery is unlike any other crisis recovery because betrayal is voluntary, intentional & personal. It not only shatters our world, it shatters our sense of self & our ability to trust in anyone or anything, including ourselves. Confidence is shattered. Rejection, abandonment, belonging, worthiness, trust...all of these & more have to be rebuilt.
The more we trusted & the more someone is dependent on the betrayer, the deeper the wound. Let’s take a child, for example, who is dependent on their parent. That would have a devastating impact compared to a friend sharing an intimate secret. It’s still going to have an impact, you’re still going to have some healing to do, but not nearly to the same extent. Some betrayals bring us to our knees because these were the people who we trusted & depended on the most & they were our safe space in the world.
It requires a different set of tools to heal from betrayal. Contrary to the old saying, time does not heal all wounds. We could have a betrayal from 10, 20 years ago that is still wreaking havoc on our health, as if it were yesterday. We must do the work. When we move through the proven & predictable stages of post betrayal & we heal, we are forever transformed.
